Even amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, Let’s Go Korea, which began as a gathering for the restoration of the next generation, will be held for the fourth time this coming August. From elementary and middle school students to high schoolers, university students, and young adults, the gathering is expected to be a place where participants deeply encounter Jesus and commit themselves as His disciples.

Reporter Jung Hee-jin met with Missionary Mark Cho, who is overseeing the preparation for the event.

This year marks the fourth Let’s Go Korea gathering. Could you tell us about the unique character and theme of Let’s Go Korea 2025?

[Missionary Mark Cho / Director of Let’s Go Korea]

The theme of Let’s Go Korea 2025 is “God’s Secret Weapon.”

At this gathering, we will talk about submitting to God’s authority, and participants will discover that there is great power within them. Like the “grain of wheat” in John 12:24, we must lay down our ego in order to grow. We must obey God’s authority and allow ourselves to be hidden.

There is a season of being covered, hidden, and lonely—a season of becoming like a grain of wheat that must fall and die in order to bear fruit. Through this process, we grow spiritually and in character, and we receive spiritual authority.

We also hope that attendees will hear the message through worship and experience the presence of God. Through this worship, lives will be transformed and healed. When we capture God’s heart and become His secret weapons, He will powerfully use us for His purposes.

What distinguishes this year’s gathering from those held in previous years?

[Missionary Mark Cho / Director of Let’s Go Korea]

Let’s Go Korea 2025 is very different from previous gatherings in that it focuses on enduring hardship and persevering in faith amid the pressures of life. Too many people give up during times of suffering.

I hope participants will continue to run toward Jesus. Many of us want to do great things for the Lord, but we do not want to go through the process or the difficulties. However, God calls us to be faithful to the journey in order to become His secret weapons.

Because this requires a high level of commitment, the number of participants may be smaller than in previous large-scale events. We invite people to come with an expectation of God’s anointing. When God chooses you as His secret weapon, He can accomplish great and amazing things through you.

As someone deeply involved in youth and young adult ministry, you must give much thought to the direction of ministry for the next generation. How should the Korean church serve the next generation?

[Missionary Mark Cho / Director of Let’s Go Korea]

I believe the Korean church is doing well in many ways. However, many people are still suffering from deep wounds. We often focus too much on results and overlook the core value of relationships.

Many people in their 20s and 30s carry the pain of their parents’ generation, while parents carry pain or guilt over feeling they failed to raise their children well. What if they gathered together to worship, share, and begin conversations?

I believe healing would take place in the church. One of the greatest strengths of gathering all generations together is the healing that happens among them. I have personally witnessed many instances of healing when older and younger generations worship together.

What message would you like to share with the youth and young adults who are anticipating and waiting for this year’s Let’s Go Korea gathering?

[Missionary Mark Cho / Director of Let’s Go Korea]

If this message has moved your heart, I invite you to come and become the Lord’s secret weapon. We have been praying and fasting for nearly a year for you.

Expect something new at this gathering. We have been waiting for you. God desires to use you as His secret weapon to impact this nation and the world. That is why God has chosen you. Please join us.

Finally, could you share prayer requests for the Let’s Go Korea 2025 gathering and for the next generation of youth and young adults?

[Missionary Mark Cho / Director of Let’s Go Korea]

Please pray that attendees will encounter the Holy Spirit. Pray for safety and security throughout the entire event. Pray that participants will discover their calling and become the Lord’s secret weapons.

Please also pray that all the financial needs and resources for the event will be provided. Pray for the future of the Let’s Go Korea movement, including the discipleship training we are planning. And pray that many volunteers will partner with us in serving Korea. Thank you.
